Blast From The Past
I found this paragraph from a few years back and I find it appropriate to show the original reason that has led me to be in this International Studies class.
"I’m a junior in high school, and my dream to become a foreign service officer has been on my mind quite often lately. I love culture, language, people and government, and this job is a combination of all. Even though this will require so much hard work, I believe it will be so worth it, and I can’t wait to jump forward into the first steps to achieving this huge achievement, and hopefully my future career. I’m doing my best to take as many classes related to the career of a foreign service officer now, but going to a small school, and only being in high school doesn’t help much. My desire and dream to become an FSO is so strong, and I’m sure I’m bugging the people around me with my constant chatter about it. When I graduate high school next year and start my venture in college, I plan on majoring in international relations, with a minor in history or economics, while learning as many languages as possible, once I get my bachelors I’m planning on going to grad school for my masters. I’m so anxious to start pursuing this passion and dream"
Although I wrote this three years ago most of it is still pretty true. I still love languages, I still love people, I still love culture, I still want to travel more then anything and I still want to become a foreign service officer. The main difference is I have now taken the first step to becoming one. I have graduate high school and am attending St. Stephens University in St. Stephen, New Brunswick pursuing a bachelor's degree in, you guessed it, International Studies.. When I wrote that a few years back, St Stephens would have never been on my mind and now that I'm here I can't get it off of my mind.
